Thank you Tina for inviting the kids to go swimming and fixing snow cones! They had a great time! Story: Paul & Barnabus Preach in the Synagogue (Acts 13:13-52 & 14:1-7) Bible Memory: "So let us boldly approach God's throne of grace. Then, we will receive mercy." Hebrews 4:16 Craft: Foiled Fish Story: Stephen the Martyr (Acts 6:8-15 & 7: 1-60) Bible Memory: "The Lord helps me. I will not be afraid." Hebrews 13:6 Craft: Octopus Story: Peter & John before the Sanhedrin (Acts 4:1-22)
Bible Memory: "Those who do what is right are as bold as lions." Proverbs 28:1 Craft: Jelly Fish Today we went on a journey as Jesus might have. We started at the donkey and Palm Sunday and went to the empty tomb. The kids were very attentive and took in each part of our journey. The kids also made resurrection rolls as we talked about how Jesus was prepared and put into the tomb. After they were baked we talked about the empty tomb. We also played a game and had an egg hunt. Jesus is Alive! The children will be singing this song on Easter, please help your child(ren) practice at home! We are lucky to have great volunteers that care for and love our children. Below is a picture of one of those volunteers, he was a patient at the doctor's office today. He had an X-ray, (with the camera), and then had the cast put on his "broken" arm. After a while he took off the cast and was reprimanded for not having his cast on, you can't help but to love these kids!
We learned about Esther's bravery as she became a Queen.
Bible Verse: Who knows? It's possible that you became queen, for a time just like this. Esther 4:14 Craft: The kids made their own crowns. The kids were excited to lead the congregation in music, take the offering, and read the scripture for the service. After the sermon Pastor Chad had all the kids and teens come to the alter and had the rest of the church gather around them to pray for them.
The kids learned about Joseph and how he always said Yes to God! During the story the kids got to try on a "coat of many colors".
Bible Verse: The hand of the Almighty One is with you. Genesis 49:24c Craft: The kids got to make their own coat of many colors! Today we had a great time with the children learning about 3 guys who said yes to God! We heard the story of Shadrach, Meshach, & Abednego and made a craft to go along with our story. We then had lunch and made s'mores over a fire before playing games that incorporated all of the stories we'll learn about this summer on Wednesday Nights from 7-8 pm.
We are going to have a Kick-Off to our summer fun of VBS. Please join us in a preview of what the summer will be like on May 30, 2015 from 10:30 -1:00 at the church (2102 S. 22nd St.). If you are planning on having your child attend our VBS Kick-Off please fill out this quick form, so we can have an idea how many to plan for. We're excited as we've begun planning for Vacation Bible School (VBS). Like the last few summers we've decided to have our VBS extend throughout the whole summer! We'll meet each Wednesday evening from 7-8 pm learning about the "Underdogs" of the Bible. Vacation Bible School is indented for children who are in preschool and potty trained through the completion of 5th Grade. Don't worry if you have child who has finished the 6th -12th Grades, we will have Youth Group for them. There is also an Adult Bible Study during this time for any adult who's interested.
More details to come!! In the months of September and October we are traveling through the book of Acts and then in November and December we'll focus on the birth of Jesus. Each week as we're traveling through the book of Acts the kids will bring home a devotional book for five of the days to be completed.
